About Dinotiv Dry Syrup

LINEZOLID is a synthetic antibiotic belonging to a new class of antimicrobials called the oxazolidinones. It is used to treat bacterial infections of the lungs (pneumonia), and skin. Bacterial infections are caused due to the multiplication of harmful bacteria inside or on the body. Infectious or harmful bacteria can make you sick and reproduce quickly in your body. These harmful bacteria produce chemicals known as toxins, which can damage tissue and make you sick. LINEZOLID does not work against infections caused by the virus, including cold and flu.

Medicinal Benefits of Dinotiv Dry Syrup

LINEZOLID belongs to the group of medicines called antibiotics used to treat bacterial infections of the lungs (pneumonia), and skin. LINEZOLID is bacteriostatic with a unique mechanism of action. It inhibits protein synthesis by binding to a site on the bacterial 23S ribosomal RNA of the 50S subunit. This prevents the formation of the 70S ribosomal unit; therefore, protein synthesis is inhibited. Thereby, helps in treating the infections. Thereby, helps in treating the infections. LINEZOLID is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible gram-positive bacteria: Nosocomial pneumonia, community-acquired pneumonia, complicated skin and skin structure infections, including diabetic foot infections, without concomitant osteomyelitis (infections of the bone), uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections, vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus faecium infections.

Directions for Use

Take LINEZOLID with or without food. The tablet form of LINEZOLID should be swallowed as a whole; do not crush or chew the tablet. The liquid form of LINEZOLID should be taken by mouth using the measuring cup provided by the pack; shake the pack well before each use. A healthcare professional will administer the injection form of LINEZOLID; do not self-administer. The dose and duration of LINEZOLID can vary depending upon your condition and severity of the infection.

Side Effects of Dinotiv Dry Syrup

Like all medicines, LINEZOLID can also cause side-effects, although not everybody experiences them. Thrush (fungal infection), headache, metallic taste, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, constipation, skin rash, indigestion and localized pain are the common side-effects of LINEZOLID. Please consult your doctor if you experience any of these side-effects persistently.

In-Depth Precautions and Warning

Drug Warnings

Do not take LINEZOLID if you are allergic to any of its contents; if you are taking or have taken monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitors in the last 14days. Talk to your doctor before taking LINEZOLID if you have high blood pressure, overactive thyroid, phaeochromocytoma (tumour of adrenal glands), carcinoid syndrome (tumours of the hormone system), manic depression, schizophrenia, mental confusion or other mental problems. Inform your doctor before taking LINEZOLID if you bruise or bleed easily, have anaemia (low red blood cells), are prone to infections, have a history of seizures, if you are on dialysis, have diarrhoea, kidney or liver problems. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience these during your treatment with LINEZOLID- throbbing headache after eating or drinking, vision problems, loss of sensitivity or tingling/prickling sensation in arms and legs, persistent diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain or rapid breathing. Avoid foods and drinks containing tyramine such as cheese, yeast extracts, soybean extracts, alcohol, beer or wine while taking LINEZOLID as it may react with tyramine and lead to an increase in blood pressure. Avoid taking LINEZOLID if you are pregnant unless prescribed by a doctor. LINEZOLID passes into breastmilk, so do not take LINEZOLID if you are breastfeeding. Avoid alcohol consumption while taking LINEZOLID to increased dizziness and blood pressure. LINEZOLID may cause dizziness and vision problems, so be cautious while driving.

Drug Interactions


Drug-Drug Interaction:

 LINEZOLID may have interaction with anti-asthma (fluticasone, salmeterol, albuterol, ipratropium, fenoterol), antihistamine (diphenhydramine), sympathomimetic agents (epinephrine, norepinephrine), pain killers (fentanyl, tramadol, pethidine), diuretics (furosemide), antibiotic (rifampin), an antidepressant (sertraline, amitriptyline, citalopram, clomipramine, dosulepin, doxepin, fluoxetine, fluvoxamine, imipramine, lofepramine, paroxetine), anti-migraine (sumatriptan, zolmitriptan), anti-emetic (ondansetron), anti-anxiety (buspirone), blood thinner (warfarin), a neurotransmitter (dopamine), and inotropic agent (dobutamine).

Drug-Disease Interaction:

LINEZOLID may have interactions with colitis (inflammation in the lining of the colon), seizures, high blood pressure, acidosis (increased acidity in the blood), carcinoid syndrome (cancerous tumour which secretes chemicals into the bloodstream), hemodialysis, hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar levels), neuropathy, kidney and liver dysfunction.

Safety Advice

ALCOHOL

  • Avoid consuming alcohol while taking LINEZOLID as it may cause an increase in blood pressure and dizziness.

PREGNANCY

  • LINEZOLID belongs to pregnancy category C. Please consult your doctor if you are pregnant, your doctor will prescribe LINEZOLID only if the benefits outweigh the risks.

BREAST FEEDING

  • Avoid taking LINEZOLID if you are breastfeeding as it may pass into breast milk and could affect the baby.

DRIVING

  • LINEZOLID may cause dizziness and vision problems. So, drive only if you are alert.

LIVER

  • Dose adjustment may be needed. Please consult your doctor before taking LINEZOLID if you have liver impairment/liver disease.

KIDNEY

  • Dose adjustment may be needed. Please consult your doctor if you have any concerns regarding this or if you have kidney impairment/kidney disease before taking LINEZOLID.
