About Favenza 800 Tablet

FAVIPIRAVIR belongs to a group of antiviral medicines used to treat coronavirus disease. Besides this, FAVIPIRAVIR is also indicated for the treatment of influenza, ebola, and other pathogenic viral infections. Coronavirus disease, also known as SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Corona Virus 2), is an infectious disease caused by the coronavirus.
 
FAVIPIRAVIR contains ‘Favipiravir’, which inhibits RNA polymerase enzyme, an enzyme that helps the coronavirus to replicate itself. Thereby, FAVIPIRAVIR lowers virus load in the body and helps treat the infection.
 
Take FAVIPIRAVIR as prescribed. Swallow FAVIPIRAVIR as a whole with water; do not chew or crush the tablet. You are advised to take FAVIPIRAVIR for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects such as diarrhea, hyperuricemia (elevated uric acid), reduced neutrophil count, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. You are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.
 
Do not take FAVIPIRAVIR if you are pregnant, think you are pregnant, or planning for pregnancy. Avoid breastfeeding while taking FAVIPIRAVIR. Use effective contraception during and for seven days after the treatment with FAVIPIRAVIR. Seek medical help immediately if you have a severe cough, fever, or difficulty breathing. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and the medicines you are taking to prevent any side effects/interactions.

Drug Warnings

Do not take FAVIPIRAVIR if you are allergic to any of its contents. Inform your doctor if you have gout, heart, liver, or kidney problems. Do not take FAVIPIRAVIR if you are pregnant, think you are pregnant, or planning for pregnancy. Avoid breastfeeding while taking FAVIPIRAVIR. Use effective contraception during and for seven days after the treatment with FAVIPIRAVIR. Seek medical help immediately if you have a severe cough, fever, or difficulty breathing. Drug Interactions


Drug-Drug Interaction:

FAVIPIRAVIR may have interaction with anti-TB (pyrazinamide), hyperglycaemic agent (repaglinide), methylxanthine (theophylline), anti-viral (famciclovir, acyclovir), NSAID (sulindac).

Drug-Disease Interaction:

FAVIPIRAVIR may have interactions with gout.
