About Lastuss LA Syrup

DEXTROMETHORPHAN HYDROBROMIDE contains an anti-tussive (relieve cough) medication primarily used to treat dry cough. A cough is a reflex action that helps to clear any foreign irritant or mucus in the throat. Mostly cough lasts for a short time (two to three weeks), so it is acute. But sometimes, if it is persistent for more than eight weeks it can lead to chronic cough. A dry cough is tickly and doesn't produce any vicious or thick mucus.

DEXTROMETHORPHAN HYDROBROMIDE contains Dextromethorphan hydrobromide, which is a cough suppressant. It works by blocking the cough receptor present in the brain, which is known to cause cough. DEXTROMETHORPHAN HYDROBROMIDE is generally prescribed for short-term treatment of dry cough. It does not treat chronic cough or cough caused due to smoking, emphysema, and asthma.

DEXTROMETHORPHAN HYDROBROMIDE can be taken with or without food. The dose and duration of DEXTROMETHORPHAN HYDROBROMIDE will be decided by the doctor depending upon your condition. The dose of DEXTROMETHORPHAN HYDROBROMIDE should be measured with a measuring cup and not with a spoon to avoid dose fluctuations. However, it should be taken at the same time of the day each time for the best results. The most common side effects of DEXTROMETHORPHAN HYDROBROMIDE are dizziness, drowsiness, sleepiness, confusion, and nausea. Most of these side effects of DEXTROMETHORPHAN HYDROBROMIDE do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. Drug Warnings

Do not take DEXTROMETHORPHAN HYDROBROMIDE if you are allergic to any of the contents. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, please inform your doctor before starting DEXTROMETHORPHAN HYDROBROMIDE. If your condition does not improve or you have a recurring cough, fever, or rash, please visit the doctor immediately as this could be serious. Also, DEXTROMETHORPHAN HYDROBROMIDE should be taken at least 15 days after your last dose of anti-depressants, especially monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAO) as taking both together may be fatal. Do not smoke as it might worsen your symptoms. DEXTROMETHORPHAN HYDROBROMIDE can be addictive if taken in larger doses. Therefore, take DEXTROMETHORPHAN HYDROBROMIDE only as prescribed.

Drug Interactions

Drug-Drug Interaction:

DEXTROMETHORPHAN HYDROBROMIDE may interact with MAO inhibitors (isocarboxazid, phenelzine, rasagiline, selegiline, tranylcypromine), anti-arrhythmic medications (amiodarone, propafenone, quinidine, and flecainide), opioid analgesics (codeine, tramadol, morphine, methadone), anti-anxiety medications (fluoxetine, paroxetine, sertraline) and anti-fungal (terbinafine).

Drug-Disease Interaction:

 If you have lung disease, depression, anxiety, or are taking Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitor (used for depression), inform your doctor before taking DEXTROMETHORPHAN HYDROBROMIDE.

ALCOHOL

DRIVING
