About Vancozyne Injection

VANCOMYCIN belongs to a class of antibiotics called glycopeptide, primarily used to treat severe bacterial infections in hospitalised patients. It is effective against bacterial infections like ulcerative colitis (chronic inflammation of the colon), bacterial septicemia (infection of the blood caused by bacteria), osteomyelitis (infection of the bone). Bacterial infection occurs when harmful bacteria grow in the body and causes illness.

VANCOMYCIN is composed of 'Vancomycin'. It kills bacteria by preventing them from forming the bacterial protective covering (cell wall) which is needed for them to survive.VANCOMYCIN used to treat severe bacterial infections in hospitalised patients. Bacterial infection occurs when harmful bacteria grow in the body and causes illness. It is effective against bacterial infections like ulcerative colitis (chronic inflammation of the colon), bacterial septicemia (infection of the blood caused by bacteria), osteomyelitis (infection of the bone), endocarditis (infection of the inner lining of the heart ), Skin and Soft tissue infection, Surgical prophylaxis (infections during surgery) and lower respiratory tract infections.

Directions for Use

VANCOMYCIN is available in the form of capsule and injection form. VANCOMYCIN can be taken with or without food. The capsule form of VANCOMYCIN should be swallowed as a whole with a glass of water, do not chew or crush it. the injection form of VANCOMYCIN comes in solution, it is administered by the health care provider.

In such cases, your doctor may prescribe other antibiotics you are not resistant to. caution should be taken while taking VANCOMYCIN in patients with kidney impairment, elderly and newborn. Excessive intravenous doses of this medicine may alter the hearing ability. Any symptoms of the hearing problem should be reported to the doctor. Medicine may increase the risk of kidney injury, especially in the elderly population. The dose of this medicine should be adjusted based on the medical condition.

VANCOMYCIN may interact with antibiotics (amikacin,amphotericin-B,capreomycin,gentamicin,bacitracin),  blood thinner (enoxaparin,warfarin), diuretics  (furosemide),anti-diabetes drugs (metformin,insulin-glargine), vaccines(cholera vaccine, BCG vaccine, typhoid vaccine),oestrogen(ethiynl-estradiol), NSAIDS (ketorolac), antacids (pantoprazole).

Drug-Disease Interaction:

VANCOMYCIN is known to interact with colitis, ototoxicity, renal dysfunction, neutropenia, GI inflammation.
