About Lanvis 40mg Tablet
THIOGUANINE belongs to the class of medicines called anticancer drugs used in the treatment of certain types of blood cancers such as acute myeloid leukaemia and acute lymphocytic leukaemia. Blood cancer is also known as leukaemia is the cancer of blood cells. It causes excessive production of immature white blood cells by the bone marrow.
THIOGUANINE contains Thioguanine that works by inhibiting the production of genetic material (DNA and RNA) in the cancer cells that are essential for growth, repair and multiplication of cells. Thus, THIOGUANINE stops the multiplication of abnormal cells and leads to the growth of cells in an unbalanced way and causes the death of cells.

Directions for Use
Take THIOGUANINE as advised by your doctor. THIOGUANINE should be swallowed as a whole with a glass of water. Do not break, crush or chew it.

Drug-Drug Interaction:
THIOGUANINE may interact with medicines used to treat ulcerative colitis (mesalazine, olsalazine), anti-inflammatory drugs (sulfasalazine).

ALCOHOL
Avoid consumption of alcohol with THIOGUANINE as it may increase the risk of liver damage.
PREGNANCY
THIOGUANINE is a category D pregnancy drug and is not recommended for use during pregnancy as it may cause harm to the foetus.
BREAST FEEDING
THIOGUANINE is given to breastfeeding mother only if the doctor thinks benefits are greater than risks.
DRIVING
THIOGUANINE usually does not affect your ability to drive or operate machinery.
LIVER
Take THIOGUANINE with caution, especially if you have a history of Liver diseases/conditions.
KIDNEY
Take THIOGUANINE with caution, especially if you have a history of Kidney diseases/conditions.
